Get Involved and Support Safe Storm Chasing and Weather Safety

Our storm chasers support safe and ethical storm chasing practices. Our founder Brian Barnes has several FEMA certifications and has volunteered countless hours to the emergency management community.  We understand the challenges that weather forecasters, storm chasers, storm spotters and emergency management professionals face and believe it is vitally important that all these groups work together in tandem and communication to make the United States a safer place to live and work when nature lashes out.

There are many ways that you can help!  Here are a few suggestions:

Get a Blog

You don't need much technical knowledge and you don't need any money. If you can send an email, you can start a blog! There are several great free blogging platforms available on the Internet, such as Blogger.com where you can start your very own blog and write about storm safety issues to spread the word.  Staying safe starts at the individual, people must know how to take action and have a plan ready to survive nature's worst moments.  It is vital that weather wise individuals help get the word out and educate the public on how they can stay safe!

Spread the Word

It may seem like a small thing, but one of the most important things you can do is help get information about weather safety issues out to the rest of the world. Encourage your friends and family to signup at our website, and signup for "The Forecast" Newsletter on StormTours.com.  We often post ideas that people just like you can easily implement to help get the word out and save valuable lives. For example, if you have a printer - you can download a weather safety poster from the National Weather Service to inform people about the importance of NOAA Weather Radio and hang these up at bullentin boards when you visit your favorite department store!

Join our Facebook Group

We strongly encourage you to join us on Facebook and start discussions within our Facebook group! Don't be afraid to get a new topic started and there is no such thing as a dumb question!  We have dozens of the world's most savvy storm chasers and skilled meteorologist in our group, so chances are that someone will always be able to help you with whatever your question might be!

Participate as an Intern or Volunteer

We often need interns and volunteers. Chances are that you would not be storm chasing, but helping in the office performing various task such as organizing and cataloging our stock photography and video library.  Occasionally Brian will select a few volunteers to help out on various photography or videography assignments - which literally can range from shooting wildlife, underwater scenes and of course extreme weather.  Volunteers need to posses some technical skills in basic office administration software. "On Location" volunteers must be willing to work in nearly any type of climate and/or environment, sitting or standing for long periods of time and able to carry at least 65 pounds of equipment. If you're interested in helping out, email your resume as a PDF file along with why you wish to volunteer to volunteer@stormchase.com
